Our paperwork is officially registered with the Central Authority in Burundi!!!!! GOD IS SO GOOD! This means we could be matched anytime a matching committee meeting occurs. The average wait is currently 12-18 months to receive a match. But God continues to whisper, “be ready” into our hearts. We waited on His timing and now He is moving mountains to show the world this is His work, not ours and to Him we give all the glory.
A beautiful thing happened recently during our devotion time. We were reading and discussing Ephesians 1. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world. He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace.” Ephesians 1:3-6 Our children were comparing how God chose them before the foundation of the Earth and how he chose their brother to not only be a part of our family, but God’s as well. We had this beautiful conversation about how we are all adopted as God’s children through his son Jesus Christ. Our adoption journey has opened their eyes more to what it means to be adopted in Christ. Truly what it takes to complete the process. They found comparison between all of our legal paperwork work and Christ paying for our sins as the ultimate sacrifice. Our paperwork took time, was painful and hard. But it had to be completed for their brother to come home. Just as we could not go “home” to heaven until the price had been paid for us, until Jesus had completed all the “legal paperwork”. “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, my God.’”[a] First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:1-10 I love what God is teaching us through this beautiful journey. I love watching God work in the hearts of our children. I love how we are all drawing nearer to Him. The waiting is so incredibly hard. We want him home today, but we know God has a great plan and His timing is perfect! We know that He is growing and preparing us as we move through every step of this journey.
